Application Rates

NASi SF can be applied with all standard airport solid spreading equipment.

The application of products is distinguished as either anti-icing or de-icing. Anti-icing is to apply immediately prior to the onset of freeze conditions to prevent the bond of precipitation with pavement. It is considered the most efficient use of chemicals. De-icing is to apply product after an event to aid in the removal of ice and snow. The following suggested rates will vary depending on a range of conditions including air temperature, humidity, precipitation type, wind, ground temperature, surface material and application equipment.

De-icing:
  • Snow and snow fall:  5.12-7.17 lbs/1000 ft2
  • Light ice and compacted snow:  2.05-4.10 lbs/1000 ft2
  • Ice and freezing rain:  5.12-8.20 lbs/1000 ft2

  • Snow and snow fall:  7.17-9.22 lbs/1000 ft2
  • Light ice and compacted snow:  4.10-6.15 lbs/1000 ft2
  • Ice and freezing rain:  8.20-10.24 lbs/1000 ft2

  • Snow and snow fall:  9.22-11.27 lbs/1000 ft2
  • Light ice and compacted snow:  6.15-8.20 lbs/1000 ft2
  • Ice and freezing rain: 10.24-12.29 lbs/1000 ft2

Anti-icing:
  • Prior to the onset of precipitation: 3.07 lbs/1000 ft2

  • Prior to the onset of precipitation: 4.10 lbs/1000 ft2
